Who is Emiru?

Emily Schunk is an American-Asian Twitch streamer, cosplayer, YouTuber and internet celebrity known under her in-game alias Emiru. She is primarily known for cosplays, playing Super Mario 64 and League of Legends on Twitch. 

As of 2022, Emiru gained over 1 million fans all over the social media world. She is currently a content creator for the gaming organization One True King.

Personal life of Emiru

Emily Schunk was born on 3rd January 1998 in Kansas, USA. Her father, who is a German-American, married Emily’s mother, who is Chinese. That means Emily is of Chinese-German descent.

She grew up in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from high school in 2016.

Emiru dated Dyrus (Marcus Hill), a fellow gamer and Twitch streamer. They broke up in 2020.

The career of Emiru

In 2013, Emiru firstly ventured into the world of social media when she started her YouTube channel. However, it took her 3 years to post her first video. She started uploading a variety of content with her now ex-boyfriend, Dyrus. Things didn’t go well at the start, and she didn’t get too many subscribers.

Everything got better when Emiru started streaming on Twitch. Her YouTube channel started rapidly growing, and Emiru gained a handful of fans. At some point in her career, Emiru decided to delete the majority of her videos from her YouTube channel and start from scratch. 

In March 2017, Emiru started official streaming on Twitch. She is known for a variety of video games such as League of Legends, Arcane, Roblox, Super Mario 64, along with Just Chatting content. Emiru even streams stepping madness, which is especially popular in Japan, with fellow streamer Alinity. 

Thanks to her popularity, Emiru was offered a partnership with Cloud9. On 28th August 2020, it was announced that Emiru had joined the esports organization Cloud9 as a content creator.

On 2nd January 2022, Schunk left Cloud9 and joined One True King.

In 2021, the design of the newly released League champion Gwen was partially inspired by Emiru, whose cosplay was used as part of a reference board by a Riot Games illustrator working on the project.

On top of her Twitch and YouTube channel, Emiru started posting on TikTok. She shares lip-sync and makeup videos with her followers. In addition, Emiru also often showcases her latest cosplays.

On top of that, Emiru has her own Discord Reddit and is highly active on Twitter and Instagram.
