Who is Jeff Nippard?
Jeff Nippard is a Canadian fitness influencer and bodybuilder who is active on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other social platforms. He was born on 6th October 1990, in Kelowna, Canada. He is known for posting science-based fitness content on his social media.
Early life of Jeff Nippard
Jeff Grew up as an active kid who always loved playing outside and learning new sports activities. His favourites were all ball games, including football, volleyball and basketball. Once Jeff came to high school, he started looking for exciting sports clubs that he could attend. Since he did well at school, Jeff made time for two out-of-school activities: fitness and basketball. He often visited the school’s gym, where he focused on building his muscles and strength to be better at sports.
Education of Jeff Nippard
Jeff wasn’t just robust and athletic but also quite bright. During his middle school years, there wasn’t a problem he couldn’t solve, and the same repeated in high school. Because of that, Jeff wasn’t too afraid about his college applications. Among others, Jeff applied to the Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he got accepted and began preparing for his studies. Besides being athletic and strong, Jeff was very curious about the physical benefits of a workout. He knew how it affected him personally but wanted to know the scientific background. Because of this particular interest, Jeff didn’t hesitate for long before choosing biochemistry as his major. Since he could learn a lot just from examining his body and the progress he made, Jeff had no problem graduating. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and moved on with his life.
Jeff Nippard and basketball
Once he began attending his freshman year, Jeff immediately started looking for openings at basketball teams to join them. Because of his lean physique and visible muscles, he got accepted on the spot and joined one of the university teams. Because of his undeniable talent and hard work, Jeff became the captain of his team in no time and moved up the ladder. Growing up, he admired professional NBA players like Vince Carter and Nate Robinson. He always dreamed of getting to the NBA himself but noticed that he wasn’t as high as the professional players. Jeff didn’t let it discourage him and focused on jump training: he could be the shortest guy in the field if he could jump high enough. Eventually, Jeff managed to become the captain of a few basketball teams but never got to play on a professional level.
Fitness journey of Jeff Nippard
To be able to jump higher than others, Jeff had to do a lot of training and practising. He tried almost every jump-improving program out there with the vision of succeeding. To complete his training, Jeff often visited the gym, where he trained his legs and tried building muscle. But once he started going regularly, he noticed that bodybuilding was easier for him than basketball. Even though he went there for another purpose, Jeff saw progress very quickly, which made him think about the future. He made a decision and started focusing on bodybuilding, just as much as he used to obsess about basketball.
Science-based bodybuilding
Since he graduated with a degree in biochemistry, Jeff wanted to make sure that he approached bodybuilding from the right angle. He pulled up his old books and started researching how science could help his cause. Luckily, there are many ways to include scientific principles in workouts and muscle growth. Even though he could easily look shredded in a couple of months, Jeff was never interested in his look, instead of his strength. He wanted to be as strong as he looked, which was his main goal. Jeff thought about it and decided to train to become strong and leave looking muscular as a byproduct. Shortly after making his decision, Jeff started his first job as a personal trainer while still studying for his degree. He enjoyed training others just as much as he enjoyed training himself, which made it all seem just like a hobby.

Once he got into the business, Jeff started getting advice to go compete himself. He was already strong enough, so powerlifting shouldn’t be a problem. He took the advice and attended the Canadian championship in powerlifting, where he succeeded and took the silver medal. Ranking high at an event like this qualified Jeff for Arnold, which was an international competition on an entirely different level. To be able to compete on this level, Jeff knew that he had to improve his deadlift, which was his weakest discipline. Since Jeff could put his mind to something, he could do it with deadlifting too.
He started excessively training for that discipline, resulting in powerlifting five days a week. If he wouldn’t be so obsessed with improving his deadlift, Jeff would probably realise that what he was doing wasn’t healthy. Unfortunately, he got into it so much that he waited until destiny stopped him. Jeff was just working out like any other day, and suddenly, he fell down to the ground. He couldn’t move because of the way his back tightened up, and he had to be carried away from the gym. Luckily, it didn’t endanger his life, but Jeff had to postpone any powerlifting event along with everyday training.
