Who is Disguised Toast?

Jeremy Wang, “Disguised Toast,” or “Toast”, is a Canadian Twitch streamer, YouTuber and social media influencer. Toast is known for his “big brain” plays and hilarious streams. Before starting his social media career, Toast worked as an app developer for Mercedes Benz, the NFL and the Royal Bank of Canada. He initially became known for his Hearthstone Twitch streams and his meme decks. After that, Toast continued growing his fame as one of the most famous Among Us streamers. Disguised Toast is one of the most famous personalities of the collaborative streamer group Offline TV.

Personal life of Disguised Toast

Disguised Toast was born on 25th November 1991 in Taiwan. His real name is Jeremy Wang. He has two older siblings, one brother and one sister. Toast’s family later moved to Penang, Malaysia, before he turned one. His older brother moved to Canada to attend University. The whole Wang family moved over later to Kingston, Ontario.

Disguised Toast initially majored in computer science and received his 3-year degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo.

Disguised Toast dated a fellow streamer Janet (xChocobars). In January 2020, they both announced on Twitter their relationship had ended. He and Janet still remain good friends.

The career of Disguised Toast

In 2015, Disguised Toast started creating Hearthstone YouTube videos of unusual card interactions. At this time, Toast was wearing a toast-shaped cardboard mask until he revealed his face by mistake in October 2016. His name is a reference to Hearthstone card SI:7 Agent, who says “This guy’s toast” when played, which sounds like “Disguised toast”. Comedian Conan O’Brien called it “the greatest name in gaming history.”

In March 2017, something which was later referred to as the “classic Disguised Toast moment” happened. Toast competed in the ONOG Major Circuit at PAX East and reached the top 32. However, Disguised Toast got disqualified because of oversleeping his match the following morning.

In October 2017, Disguised Toast officially joined Offline TV. Collective of content creators living together in Los Angeles, California. 

In the summer of 2019, Disguised Toast introduced a wider variety into his streams. He began playing Dota 2 mode called “Dota Auto-chess” and Lol mode “Teamfight Tactics”. During the beta of Legends of Runetera, Disguised Toast was the second most-watched streamer on Twitch. 

By that time, he had 1.3 million followers on Twitch and 950,000 subscribers on his main YouTube channel. 

In November 2019, Disguised Toast signed an exclusivity contract with Facebook. He shifted from Twitch to Facebook Gaming to broadcast his streams.

In May 2019, Toast got nominated as Twitch Streamer of the Year in the 11th annual Shorty Awards.

In April 2020, Disguised Toast returned to Twitch as a host of new non-gaming series called “Blind eDating”. This show focused on dating a new girl each week and playing games with them.

From September 2020 to January 202, Toast achieved over 2 million new subscribers on his YouTube channel with over 400 million views. This happened thanks to him playing by that time trending game Among Us. In addition, Toast played this game on-stream with other popular content creators such as Bretman Rock, James Charles, Pokimane, JackSepticEye, PewDiePie, Jae Park, Logic and a majority of OfflineTV. 

One of his most popular streams was featuring Democratic politicians Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez aka AOC, and Ilhan Omar, to advocate for voting in the 2020 United States presidential election.

On 12th August 2021, Disguised Toast participated in the music video for Sub Urban and Bella Poarch’s song, “Inferno”.

On 17th November 2021, after two years on the Facebook Gaming streaming platform, Disguised Toast announced his departure. Only one week later, on 24th November, Toast announced that he would be returning to Twitch.

The Controversy of Disguised Toast

In June 2017, Disguised Toast got banned for 72 hours by Hearthstone for showing an exploit on his stream.

After that, in late 2019, Disguised Toast was asked by Blizzard to reveal a new card from the Saviors of Uldum expansion. However, Disguised Toast turned down the offer, citing his personal feelings on Hearthstone and negative community reaction.

In June 2020, it was revealed Fedmyster had made multiple non-consensual sexual advances toward many of the female members and friends of OfflineTV. Toast spoke about this and other issues with women in the streamer space, lamenting that he didn’t do more to stand up for his female friends at conventions and in different awkward situations.
