Nikocado Avocado is a Ukrainian-American mukbang influencer who is active on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other social platforms. His real name is Nicholas Perry, and he was born on 19th May 1992 in Ukraine. He is known for posting extreme mukbang videos on his YouTube channel.
Vegan era of Nikocado Avocado
Although he was born in Ukraine, Niko was adopted as a child by an American family and was raised in Pennsylvania. He was always passionate about playing the violin since he regularly visited teaching classes. His dream was to become a professional violinist. He studied Performance art in college and, after graduation, moved to New York to pursue his dream. While in college, Niko changed his lifestyle choices and became vegan. He loved discovering new vegan foods and meat replacements.
Since he wanted to share his passion for vegan food with people, he created his YouTube channel in 2014. His earliest videos have been deleted, but as far as we know, his content included playing the violin and showing interesting vegan recipes.
Why is Nikocado Avocado no longer vegan
Everything changed in 2016 when he posted a video called Why I’m No Longer A Vegan YouTuber. This video remains one of the most viewed on his channel, with over 5,7 million views. In the said video, Niko explained his change of mind considering the vegan community. He talked about other vegan YouTubers who he thought were being toxic towards other people, constantly arguing about who is “the real vegan”. He also stated that a vegan lifestyle has caused him several health problems which he never had before.
Nikocado Avocado tries Mukbang
Afterwards, Niko switched to a regular diet and started filming mukbang videos. He brought a new perspective to the genre since mukbang videos were usually posted by women. The first few videos were kind of sweet when Niko was trying new foods with his signature pet parrot sitting on his shoulder. He filmed some videos with intriguing titles like Ex-Vegan tries burger after 10 years. These videos lured many new followers, ready to watch Niko’s journey. Niko was happy about the rise of new fans and decided to make even more exciting videos. Soon after, His channel transformed to straight mukbang content, adding more significant portions of food each time.
Out of nowhere, Niko started to gain more and more followers alongside the noticeable weight increase. He got famous for his Spicy Noodle Challenges, where he would eat enormous amounts of food. Besides spicy noodles, Niko ate a lot of fast-food and junk food overall. He seemed to ignore or deny his weight gain until he weighed himself live on one video. Niko saw that he had gained over 60 lbs in just one year, which seemed to shock him. Later, he started to address his weight gain, but it seemed like he was in denial. He said that it was all water gain or that he might have some health problems, always ignoring the fact that he ate enormous amounts of junk food almost daily. Once he realized that the weight was not going to go anywhere, he kind of accepted it and continued doing mukbang content.
The fall of Nikocado Avocado
Of course, his fans noticed this change and regularly asked Niko if he planned to stop eating so much. He usually answered that he planned to do mukbang videos for just a few years before quitting or that he would stop if he weighed 300 pounds. Even with this huge change of lifestyle, Niko still seemed like a generally nice guy who just happened to gain weight, and his fans loved him. But suddenly, his whole personality changed alongside his plans and gold. Out of nowhere, he started to eat more, complaining about why he couldn’t hit the 300 lbs mark. His personality changed as well, as he began to cry on his videos and occasionally yell.
This personality change only predicted what came next. Since 2019, Niko completely forgot about his health and became obsessed with eating lots of food and gaining followers. He gained more and more weight to the point where it caused him health problems. He supposedly fractured his rib while coughing and suffered from erectile dysfunction due to his overeating habit. At the end of 2021, he started to appear on his videos, connected to a breathing machine, since he wasn’t able to breathe normally himself. In 2022, he made several “celebrational” videos, celebrating that he officially weighed 400 lbs.
Controversy of Nikocado Avocado
Around the time when he weighed 300 pounds, people started to question Niko’s mental health. There appeared many comments asking Niko to stop doing mukbang videos because he would eat himself to death. But these people only enlarged his already huge following, which seemed to be Niko’s only goal. Some other YouTubers made videos on Niko, speculating that he might have already given up. Since nothing changed, many people assumed that Niko would do anything to get more followers and more money at the same time. He kind of proved their point in 2022 when he posted a video of his new, extremely expensive penthouse.
Personal life of Nikocado Avocado
Nico met his husband, Orlin Home, in 2013. They met through an app which was designed for vegan gay men. Orlin supported Niko’s vegan lifestyle alongside his YouTube career. They got married in 2017. Since Niko’s lifestyle changed, Orlin seemed to change as well, sometimes joining Niko in his mukbang videos. Once Niko’s mental health worsened, he started to accuse Orlin of planning to break up with him, usually causing a big scene. Since the internet loves drama, these videos got more views, which pleased Niko. What usually started as a lover’s fight ended in a series of dramatic videos.
