Who is Jackie Aina?
Jackie Aina is an African American YouTube beauty star who is also active on Instagram and other social platforms. Her real name is Jacquelyn Lonje Olayiwola Oyeshola Bolayemi Aina, and she was born on 4th August 1987 to an African-American mother and Nigerian father. When she was younger, she saw her future in the medical field, as she attended medical school for two years. After school, she joined the United States Army and was sent on missions to other places. While being posted in Hawaii, she started to notice her growing interest in makeup and beauty products. In 2009 she decided to act on it and was hired by MAC to work in one of their stores. She loved the job and was always ready to help customers with choosing the right product.

Jackie created her YouTube channel while still working at MAC and usually posted makeup tutorials and tips. She also wanted to do more product reviews but soon realized that there was a lack of shades for her skin colour. This made her unhappy, at least, but she decided to fight against this imbalance in her own way. She made numerous videos reviewing one brand or a specific product at the time, and while she was talking about the general quality, she also spoke about their shade collection. Speaking about brands that had very few darker shades, she wasn’t afraid to show her indignation and openly criticized them. But her page isn’t at all filled up with negativity. Whenever Jackie found a good quality eyeshadow colour that flattered her skin tone, she never missed the opportunity to create a beautiful makeup look and guided her audience through every step.
Collaborations with Jackie Aina
While posting on her YouTube and Instagram, which she created in 2012, Jackie worked as a freelance makeup artist. Jackie being openly critical of certain makeup brands for not being inclusive actually helped her career as well as the makeup world. Several brands reached out to her accepting her criticism and offering her partnerships in order to make up for it. In 2016 she got a chance to create an eyeshadow palette collaborating with e.l.f. Cosmetics. Too Faced took her words to heart and invited her to help them enlarge their range of foundation shades in 2017. In 2018 Jackie collaborated with Anastasia Beverly Hills and created an eyeshadow palette containing shades that are supposed to fit everyone, but especially people with darker skin tones.
In 2019 Jackie founded her own brand, but unlike other beauty influencers, it’s not about makeup products but candles. Her brand is called Forvr Mood and launched at the perfect time. Jackie was waiting for her candles to be perfect and ready to sell, so when they finally arrived in stores, it was the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, when everyone was buying candles.
