Who is Manny Mua?
Manny Mua is a Mexican-American makeup artist and beauty influencer, active on YouTube, Instagram and other social media. He was born on 4th April 1991 in San Diego and raised in the Mormon community. His real name is Manny Gutierrez.
His passion for beauty presented itself in his early childhood while watching his mother put on makeup, and he became interested in it. He decided to follow this passion by finding a job at Sephora and later at MAC while still in school. He initially saw it more as a hobby since his future goal was to work in the medical field, specifically as a plastic surgeon. But that also might have been a hint since it's a medical field oriented toward making their customers prettier in their own eyes. While working at the mentioned stores, Manny became more confident about what his future looks like. Still, his parents weren't happy about his choice. Like many other people, they didn't think that man should be working in such a field. This might as well be the last straw for Manny since these prejudices were just the thing that bothered him.

Manny created his YouTube channel in 2014, the same as his Instagram account. He started posting makeup tutorials and reviews and became very popular in just the first year. He is known for talking straight to the point and being honest about the product he's testing. But other than his makeup skills and honesty, fans began to love his bubbly personality and him being funny and cheeky at the same time. Besides that, Manny's goal was definitely to make it clear that makeup has no gender. He has proven that his skills in makeup are as good as other female influencers and that people should not judge him or anyone for wearing or not wearing makeup. Through his personality and general overview, Manny managed to make some famous friends in the beauty community, such as Jaclyn Hill and Patric Starr. In 2017 Manny achieved one significant accomplishment when Maybelline approached him to be the brand's ambassador, making him their first male ambassador. He was the second man to ever become a beauty brand's spokesperson, right after James Charles.
Later that year, Manny collaborated with one of his famous friends and colleagues, Jeffree Star. Together, they launched the Eclipse collection. Fans went crazy, and the collection was sold out almost immediately, but there was an issue. The Black Moon Cosmetics filed a lawsuit against Jeffree and Manny for alleged copyright. They stated that the packaging Manny and Jeffree created, which contains Jeffree's holographic star and Manny's moon on deep black background, looks the same as Black Moon Cosmetics' go-to logo. Luckily this issue has been resolved, and the launch came on the planned date.
As if 2017 wasn't a successful year for Manny, he became the first male to be included in People magazine's Most Beautiful list.
In 2018, Manny Mua managed to create his own makeup brand called Lunar Beauty. He always wanted to create something big for the people that followed him, and Lunar Beauty was its result. It is a beauty line that is meant to be something new and unseen, looking out of this world, but also for a fair price.
