Who is Amrezy?
Amra Olevic is an American beauty vlogger who is active on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other social platforms. She goes under the nicknames Amrezy or Glamerzy. She was born on 28th May 1988 in Montenegro but didn’t stay there for long since her family was often moving. At first, they moved to Bosnia and later Croatia and eventually decided to move to New York City when Amra was 9 years old.
Early life and career of Amrezy
Amra started attending college right after finishing high school, but she didn’t stay there for long. She was bored and didn’t pay attention most of the time. Although she eventually dropped out, she wasn’t done with her education. She decided to pursue a career in the beauty field and therefore applied for Make-up Designory, which is a private beauty school. She worked hard to learn everything about makeup, and after finishing school, she was hired as a makeup consultant by the Sephora store. She stayed there for almost two years before finding a similar job at MAC Cosmetics.
While working at different makeup stores, Amra created her Instagram account in 2012. She used to post selfies and modelling photos with a full face of makeup and soon after gained a lot of followers. Since her audience was growing larger, she decided to leave her job and start working as a freelance makeup artist. She didn’t have trouble finding new clients thanks to her social platforms. Amra created her YouTube channel in 2014, but she didn’t pay much attention to it since her main platform was Instagram. She also used to write on a blog called Glamerzy and posted there regularly.

Amrezy caught the eye of many beauty companies, starting with Anastasia Beverly Hills in 2014. This brand used to be mainly focused on eyebrow makeup and products, and Amra became one of the people who helped to change it. They collaborated and created an eyeshadow palette called Amrezy and two shades of highlighter. ABH brand noticed that their sales went noticeably up and their popularity as well. They decided to continue working with Amra and made her one of the brand’s ambassadors. Six years later, in 2020, they decided to surprise their customers and revealed that they were launching another Amrezy palette, this time with more colours and a glitter finish. Amra did a good job hiding it, so her fans went wild when she posted the reveal on her Instagram. A lot of them bought the first palette six years ago and didn’t plan on missing the second one.
Controversy of Amrezy
In 2019 Amra got caught up in a controversy about her job as an influencer. She posted a tweet where she complained about people mocking influencers about sitting home all day and doing nothing to earn their money. Amra got angry and stated that being an influencer is a hybrid job, where one individual must learn new skills every other day in order to stay relevant. At the same time, she claimed that those who are discrediting influencers are the ones who tried it and didn’t succeed. Needless to say, people were angry. A lot of them answered and explained that many people have it way more complicated as they have to study for a degree and then struggle to find a job. At the same time, influencers can easily finish their studies and simultaneously continue gaining more followers. This controversy eventually disappeared, but some of Amra’s followers left as well.
