Weylie Hoang

Who is Weylie Hoang?

Weylie Hoang is a Chinese-American beauty vlogger active on YouTube, Instagram and other social platforms. She was born on 29th March 1993 in Oklahoma City as a second child. While attending high school, she started to be interested in beauty, including fashion and makeup. As she saw her future in the beauty industry, she applied to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. While attending beauty school, she worked hard on improving her makeup skills to have a chance of becoming a makeup artist.

Weylie's YouTube career

In order to show her skills to the world and become known, she created her YouTube channel, ilikeweylie, in 2007 and started filming videos. She began by posting a few makeup tutorials and got a great response. But later, she realised that makeup isn't the only thing she's passionate about and began to talk about fashion, hair, nail colours and others. She was pleased to find out that her viewers didn't really care about the discussed topic, as long as it was clear that Weylie enjoyed it. When it comes to fashion, Weylie's viewers love that she isn't all about brands and expensive clothing. She does like to treat herself, but she doesn't disdain clothes from the local shops and loves thrifting. Many of her videos are dedicated strictly to thrifted outfits and how to look for the gems which are hiding in every second-hand store.

As her channel got bigger and attracted new fans, she didn't hesitate and added new content. Since she was more comfortable on the internet, she started filming vlogging videos and talking about more than just makeup and fashion. One of her popular topics became travelling vlogs, where she shared not only the beautiful side but all the struggles and possible hassle. She also guided her fans through all the necessities of travelling, such as: how to book a hotel, when to visit the most popular spots and where to find the best food for a lower price.

Weylie's role as an older sister

Since Weylie grew up with a sister, she didn't realise how little some young women know about their own bodies and related topics. Most of her fanbase consisted of young women and teenagers, and not everyone was given the proper education. She decided to become her fans' older sister and started educating them on these sensitive topics. On her YouTube channel, there is one entire series called Advice – Sex, Periods, Relationships. Weylie isn't shy to share her knowledge on this topic and discuss all the possibilities. She doesn't like that talking about women's bodies is considered taboo, and she tries her best to change that. On her page, girls can learn how to shave correctly, what to expect from their first period and when they're ready, and what to expect when getting intimate.

Overall, Weylie's channel is the ideal place to learn everything one could need. Apart from everything that has been mentioned before, she is open about her lifestyle and how she achieved her slim figure. She filmed several fitness routines, where she explained which exercises work the best for her and how to use some gym equipment. She also posts cooking videos with her boyfriend Wah Wu and shares recipes for easy and healthy meals.

Weylie's career and brand

Weylie's fanbase was getting bigger each year, and her fans soon started asking for merchandise. So in 2019, she decided to collaborate with her friend and fellow YouTuber Sophia Chang and create a small fashion line called Womn. They both care for the environment, so they launched seven clothing items, which are all ethically produced. Their clothing is made to last as long as possible and made without hurting the environment. But most importantly, these clothing items should empower women to embrace their femininity.
