What is The Asano Sisters Project?
The Asano Sisters Project is made up of two VTubers, Asano Ruri and Asano Akane. They originally started as a trio, including their sister Asano Hikari, but she retired in 2019. In the beginning, Hikari was the only one planned for the project.
Ruri is the more active member of the duo, while Akane took a break between 2022 and 2023. After her return, she only appears occasionally. At first, the sisters shared Hikari's model but with different headbands - Hikari's was purple, Ruri's was blue, and Akane's was pink with light purple hair. A few months after their debut, Ruri got a new model with different clothes and a hairstyle without a headband but with a blue morning glory flower ornament. Akane continued to use her original model, which became unique to her after Hikari retired.
Later on, Akane also received a new model with different clothes, hairstyle, and a smaller chest compared to Ruri. In 2021, both sisters introduced their third models with distinct color palettes - Ruri's clothes are purple and black, while Akane's are pink and black.

The project began with a video of Hikari playing "Super Mario Maker" on March 31, 2018. On May 1, 2018, Hikari introduced herself in a short video. On May 2, 2018, Ruri made her debut on the channel with an introductory video. On May 4, 2018, Akane also debuted with an introductory video. As triplets, they looked identical, but they wore headbands of different colors to tell them apart.
On October 2 of 2021, it was announced that Ruri won an audition to be the voice actress for Ecute in the third season of the anime Jashin-chan Dropkick X. She was chosen by fans who bought Dropkick on My Devil! merchandise and participated in the auditions. This was a dream come true for Ruri, who wanted to be a VTuber and have a significant role as a voice actress in an anime.
On March 30, 2023, Ruri introduced her fourth 3D costume. She has three new hairstyles, including a bob haircut and two short low twin tails. She wears cozy loungewear with a pink hoodie, a purple t-shirt with a "Bermunda Triangle" print, black shorts with a white outline, and Nori-themed slippers.
